L'incontro con la guida avviene nei pressi del Colosseo, per iniziare un tour in questo affascinante monumento. È il più grande anfiteatro antico romano del mondo, nonché patrimonio dell'umanità dell'UNESCO. La sua costruzione fu avviata nel 72 d.C. e completata in soli 8 anni. In grado di contenere tra 50.000 e 75.000 spettatori, fu in uso fino al 523 d.C.

Scopri le diverse tecniche di costruzione utilizzate e il mondo dei gladiatori, i famosi combattenti che duellavano nell'arena. La storia racconta che questo tipo di combattimento abbia avuto inizio nella Grecia antica, come celebrazione per memoriali privati, e i Romani lo trasformarono in un vero e proprio spettacolo pubblico popolarissimo.

I giochi al Colosseo si suddividevano in tre fasi: combattimenti tra uomini e animali la mattina, esecuzione di criminali nella pausa pranzo, combattimenti tra gladiatori nel pomeriggio. Ascolta tutti i dettagli che descrivono questi giochi, dall'organizzazione agli aspetti sociale ed economico. In particolare potrai conoscere tutti i tipi di gladiatori: ne esistevano circa 30 tipologie e ognuna di esse applicava le tecniche di combattimento militare dell'imperatore romano.

La tappa successiva è il Palazzo dei Cesari, sul colle Palatino, da cui deriva il nome Palatium, in italiano Palazzo. Ammira le rovine della Domus Augustana e poi gli affreschi del primo Palazzo di Nerone, gli unici scampati al grande incendio del 64 d.C.

Il tour si conclude con la visita del Foro Romano, originariamente una necropoli, poi trasformata nel cuore di Roma con i suoi templi, le sue basiliche, la Curia e la Domus del Pontefice Maximum.

Our guide Santos explained everything very well and allowed time for pictures! We skipped the long lines and he made sure to explain under the nice shade! Very hot in September. He also allowed bathroom breaks!

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and very nice person. Two concerns: We booked this particular tour because it offered headsets. The tour operator said they didn't have them, even if the confirmation says : headsets. In our confirmation we saw that the tour was to last 3 hours. It took 2;20 hours. Which parts we didn't see?

The directions were not good. The tour of the colosseum was good but could have been given longer to look round. The guild was changed for the forum tour and told a man was taking us but a woman turned up, she did not stop so we could take photos, not very informative, moved very fast, even the young one did not keep up and she didnt like to be asked questions and she was only with the group for 3/4 hour. We were not given a ticket for if we got separated from the guild. The tour company was called FUN TOURS and I would not recommend them you anybody and hope aviator think very carefully about them again.

We had 2 guides for this tour. Both were knowledgeable and personable. The guide for the Colosseum tour brought along good reference material to illustrate his talk. After the Colosseum tour we met another, large group that joined us for the Palatine Hill/Forum tour. This group,was much too big. It took a long time for the entire group to,gather at each point, so either the guide waited and delayed very one, or the slower walkers missed the beginning of her remarks. There were no headsets to ease that problem. Also, at the Forum tour the guide took us to a lookout spot and pointed out sights, which she suggested that we do on our own. I think the two sights should be split into two,tours, to,do justice to both. The Forum tour as it is felt skimpy.

The tour itself was great but getting to the meeting place to then be told there isnt enough numbers so we were joining a different tour was just wierd, didnt start the tour until an hour later. once on the tour i was just gonna get in there and do it myself but the tour guide actually saved it
