Incontra la guida nel centro di Praga alla stazione ferroviaria Masarykovo nádraží per Bohušovice nad Ohří, appena a nord della città. Durante il viaggio, scopri il passato di Terezin come fortezza del XVIII secolo e apprendi come durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale le sue mura siano state trasformate in un campo di concentramento nazista. Ascolta i racconti di come la linea ferroviaria percorsa dal treno sia la stessa utilizzata durante la guerra per il trasporto degli ebrei verso il campo.

Scendi a Bohušovice e vedi i binari di raccordo abbandonati, un tempo utilizzati per trasportare i prigionieri a Terezin. Prendi un taxi o un autobus per un breve tragitto fino all'entrata del campo.

Il tour si concentra sulla Grande fortezza di Terezin, la parte del campo diventata ghetto ebraico per persone provenienti da tutta Europa. Mentre cammini, ascolta la storia di come Terezin sia stata presentata agli ispettori della Croce Rossa Internazionale come una vivace comunità ebraica dotata di strutture per lo svago, negozi e spettacoli teatrali e musicali. Apprendi di questa farsa crudele e come, nonostante indicibili sofferenze, molti ebrei sono riusciti a mantenere viva la speranza.

Esplora il museo che racconta alcune delle storie dei prigionieri e mostra i disegni fatti da alcuni dei bambini. Guarda un film della propaganda nazista sul campo e passeggia intorno al commovente cimitero ebraico, il crematorio e il colombario. Poiché qui le visite possono essere dolorose, la guida fornirà commenti nel rispetto della sensibilità altrui.

Successivamente, torna a Bohušovice per prendere il treno di ritorno a Praga, dove termina la gita giornaliera.

Very good tour and extremely informative. Would recommend to anyone but is a lot of walking involved. I am fine with it but any e who struggles with walking may be advised.

While it was a very heavy, emotional day, given the site, we still had a “great” time. Tijo was an excellent guide. He made sure we understood the gravity of the experiences and lives at Terezin. It was fascinating, humbling and very well done.

Our tour guide, Brian, started the tour promptly at 10 AM. He was very informative; however, he moved the tour very quickly. There were many interesting exhibits on the art, music, and literature at Terezin, but we did not have much time to look at the work. Also only 20 minutes were allotted for lunch. It would have been helpful to know that we could bring our own lunch. We covered both the small and large fortress. Overall, a very educational tour.

This tour was pretty much a disappointment. Not the camp itself, which was moving and arresting and full of information, but the way the trip was handled. There were at least two incredibly tasteless “jokes” during the tour - one from a passenger who asked if the group photo was to identify us in case we died on the tour, and another from the guide about giving everyone numbers in the future to keep track of us. I asked, and the company/guide, Brian S., had no plan for how to handle such offenses, not even announcing behavioral expectations at the beginning of the tour. The group was far too large, ~30 people when it should have been at least half. The info Brian provided was mostly relevant and interesting but not always well-conveyed (i.e., his explanation of how WWI started) and he sometimes seemed to have trouble showing us around (i.e., at the start of the museum portion of the tour). I’d definitely recommend visiting this site, but not with this tour company or guide.

Brian Stewart was a wonderful guide. He is extremely knowledgeable about the history of Terezin, particularly during the period of the twentieth century. The anecdotes he told about the inmates of the ghetto during the Nazi regime made the visit extremely moving. Wear good shoes during this tour there is a lot of walking! And bring lunch or a snack. Very worthwhile journey.

All we can say is the tour is very well worth the time and money! Our guide for the day, Terry, was one of the most knowledgeable tour guides weve had. And very personable and passionate about what she is talking about. We did not take many pictures as we did not want to take away from the actual visit and the information being given. A few hints...pack a small but light lunch/snacks and water, and wear comfortable walking shoes. Not too many places to get something as you are constantly moving throughout the Terezín area.
