Tour delle cascate della gola del Columbia e Monte Hood
Si tratta di un tour di un giorno, in genere offerto dalle 09:00 alle 16:30. Nota che il percorso del tour e le attrazioni turistiche possono variare a seconda del periodo dell'anno e delle condizioni atmosferiche. Il nostro obiettivo è di fornire sempre le avventure più interessanti.
Partiremo dal centro di Portland e ci dirigeremo verso est, lungo il fiume Columbia a Troutdale, conosciuta come la Porta d'ingresso alla gola! Ci immetteremo nella splendida e storica Columbia River Highway, la prima autostrada panoramica pianificata degli Stati Uniti, per volare verso la nostra prima tappa della giornata: l'osservatorio di Vista House a Crown Point. Questo sorge a 733 m sopra il fiume Columbia, sui resti di un flusso di lava che aveva imperversato attraverso la gola circa 14-17 milioni di anni fa! Qui, troverai l'incredibile vista a 180 gradi della gola del Columbia ed esplorerai la Vista House. Un'intricato osservatorio e museo, la Vista House è iscritta nel Registro nazionale dei luoghi storici.
Da lì, ci inoltreremo più a fondo nell'Area panoramica nazionale del fiume Columbia. La nostra prima cascata sarà la suggestiva Latourell, che si getta da 76 m di altezza oltre un enorme muro di basalto colonnare. A seconda della stagione, attraverso un breve sentiero lastricato di circa 40 km avrai una vista più ravvicinata delle cascate.
La prossima cascata che visiteremo sono le grandi cascate Multnomah. Colando a picco da quasi 200 m di altezza in due fasi principali, le cascate Multnomah sono le cascate più alte dell'Oregon e le seconde più alte della nazione! Qui, esploreremo la Historic Lodge delle cascate Multnomah (un capanno in pietra e legno in stile cascadiano costruito nel 1925) nonché le splendide cascate di Multnomah stesse. Durante l'incendio della gola del 2017, i pompieri delle wildland hanno combattuto instancabilmente e alla fine hanno salvato questo monumento storico. La piattaforma di osservazione, facilmente accessibile, offre una visuale completa del Benson Bridge e delle cascate sullo sfondo.
Prosegui verso Hood river, nota anche come la capitale mondiale del windsurf, dove faremo una pausa di un'ora, con la possibilità di esplorare la città e pranzare. Dopo il pranzo, parti in direzione sud, attraverso i pittoresca frutteti di Fruit Loop frutteti e le fattorie di lavanda. Se il tempo lo permette, si può anche fare una breve sosta presso una delle aziende del luogo!
Proseguendo, finiremo il nostro percorso, arrampicandoci fino a circa 1.830 m di altitudine, verso il Timberline Lodge. Questo monumento storico nazionale sorge orgogliosamente contro la vetta più alta dell'Oregon, il Monte Hood! Il Monte Hood attira oltre 10.000 scalatori ogni anno ed è un mammut da ricordare. Continueremo con un tour a piedi all'interno del lodge e ci godremo la circostante Catena montuosa delle cascate viste dal patio all'aperto del lodge. Se il tempo lo consente, la guida ti condurrà in una breve escursione per la Pacific Crest Trail, che attraversa proprio dietro il lodge.
Dopo un'intera giornata di avventure, si farà ritorno a Portland (circa 1 ora e mezza).

Zeke, our guide, is very knowledgeable, friendly and interested in ensuring that his guests have a terrific time. He has a lively and engaging personality, and talked about Portland, its history and the sites we were going to see in a way that was interesting and easy to understand. We did the all day tour. It was excellent!! Our tour guide, Deana, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She even assisted with taking photos if requested. I would take a tour with her again. The tour had a good pace of driving and stopping for photos, etc. Timing seemed just about right. We would highly recommend this tour. It was certainly one of the highlights of our two week trip in Oregon and Washington!!

Me and my friends had a great time. We had plenty of time to admire the waterfalls. Our guide was amazing. He told us so many facts about Oregon and its history. He also was great because most of the van was sleeping, but he was still engaging for the few that remained awake. He also had great recommendations for lunch and cool tips for photographs etc...
This tour was the best day we had in Portland. We were fortunate to have a very knowledgeable and passionate tour guide in Will. We were entertained by Will’s anecdotes about the history and geography of Portland while seeing the scenic sites on and off the road. It was a worthwhile and meaningful experience!
Trip was informative and an excellent intro to the area. Lots of beautiful scenic routes. Only thing I would add is perhaps to allot more time at the Timberline lodge in order to explore Mt. Hood a bit closer. Overall Highly recommended.
This trip, though long was full of great things to see and do. The guide, Nicholas, was knowledgeable and kept us entertained during the time between stops.
Everything about this tour delivered! The scenery (waterfalls, Mt Hood, Hood River, etc.) was beautiful. Our guide (Devon) was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable with a clear passion for the job. I highly recommend this tour to any Portland visitors- it will not disappoint.

This was an enjoyable, relaxing way to spend the day. With a small vehicle it was easy to get in and around to have a close up view of the waterfalls, Vista Pointe and Mt. Hood. The tour guide, Aaron was very friendly and knows the history of the area very well. He did an excellent job and would recommend asking for him. A not to be missed trip when you visit the Portland area
