Tour della Costa dell'Oregon da Portland
Partiremo nel centro di Portland e ci dirigeremo verso ovest sull'autostrada Sunset Highway, la prima strada per auto dell'Oregon attraverso la Catena delle cascate! Durante il nostro viaggio verso la costa, ci lasceremo la città alle spalle e passeremo attraverso un susseguire di pascoli e torreggianti foreste di Douglas-Firs.
Lasciando la Sunset Highway, girovagheremo attraverso una lussureggiante foresta di pecci di Sitka per trovare il nostro primo assaggio di costa dell'Oregon all'Ecola State Park. Incastonata tra Seaside e Cannon Beach, una volta la zona fu attraversata da William Clark stesso con 12 membri del suo equipaggio alla ricerca di una balena spiaggiata. Se il tempo lo consente, possiamo tornare passando dalla foresta verso Indian Beach.
Lasciato il parco, faremo una breve gita alla vicina Cannon Beach, punteggiata dalla spettacolare Haystack Rock, un faraglione poco più in là della riva reso famoso dalla somiglianza con il suo omonimo. Qui esploreremo la spiaggia, guarderemo i bellissimi uccelli volare in cerchio sopra la roccia e se siamo fortunati e la marea è bassa vedremo numerose specie di animali marini nella pozza di marea, che è il loro habitat naturale.
La città di Cannon Beach ci farà da sfondo per il pranzo. Puoi scegliere tra diversi ristoranti di piccole città, ognuno con i suoi menu eclettici. In una giornata di sole hai la possibilità di prendere il pranzo e andare a gustarlo su una panchina di fronte alle onde!
Muovendoci ancora lungo il nostro percorso, ci dirigeremo a sud sulla famosa Pacific Coast Scenic Byway, l'autostrada 101, esplorando altre meravigliose spiagge costiere.
Qui il nostro viaggio ci porterà all'Oswald West State Park, chiamato così in onore del governatore dell'Oregon Oswald West. Il governatore West ha il merito di aver assicurato che la nostra ampia costa dell'Oregon rimanesse pubblica. A seconda del tempo, potremo optare per una breve escursione boschiva che segue Short Sand Creek che si apre su una costa con legni impilati conosciuta come Smugglers Cove. Una variabile di questa tappa potrebbe essere una breve visita a Hugh Point. Con la bassa marea possiamo farci un salto per ammirare una piccola cascata costiera! Terminata quest'ultima tappa, riprenderemo la strada verso Portland tramite l'autostrada 26 per riportarti in centro giusto in tempo per la cena.

Will kept things interesting by providing great information about Portland, the Willamette Valley and the forests on the way to the Coast - he is very knowledgeable and has an engaging and pleasant personality. Although it rained most of the day we still enjoyed all the sites we visited and did see a variety of forest and coastal areas. We did a couple bonus stops for photo ops, especially when the sun peeked out for a few minutes. Just a delightful day - I highly recommend Wildwood Tours, and want to thank Will for being such a thoughtful and interesting guide!
Our tour guide was full of interesting facts which helped a lot during the drive. He was friendly and kept us on schedule without being too pushy. The coastline was stunning and well worth spending the full day. We especially enjoyed wading close to Haystack Rock.
The only complaint I have is the seats in the back of the van were very narrow even with just 3 of us. One of the seats you end up sitting on the part of the belt that you click into making it very uncomfortable. On the drive the ride was Very Bumpy coming and going. Shocks may need to be checked. The tour guide was knowledgeable and had interesting facts to share.
Exploring the Oregon coast with Devin and Wildwoods Tours was an awesome experience not to be missed if you are in the Portland area. Devin is an excellent travel guide. The day was delightful meeting others on the tour, seeing the beautiful Oregon coast and the forest area leading to the coast. I would love to have a multi day trip to cover all of the Oregon coast.
When I asked my friend to go on this tour with me of course I was nervous -- who wants to be the travel buddy that books a bad tour? This was anything but that -- it excelled in all areas. Our tour guide, Brin, was full of knowledge about not just Portland, or the coast, but of Oregon as a whole. We learned a lot while laughing and exploring! Brin had water and snacks and the van was top notch! A nice touch was the umbrellas that were provided -- much appreciated towards the end of the trip when it started raining. I would recommend this tour to anyone!
Aaron took us on a great trip to the Oregon coast, packed in loads of knowledge and history on the way, and then gave us photo opportunities galore as we looked down onto Cannon beach, then walked on it, out to Haystack Rock before seeing other coves and bays down the coast. We had time for a relaxing lunch and then also an afternoon walk through ancient rainforest to the sea. Great day out!
Jesse was a fabulous tour guide and made the trip. Treated us and made us feel like long time friends from the time we met him. Extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend the day with. Thank you for everything Jesse. Sites were beautiful and what an awesome area to see.
Our guide was awesome and most knowledgeable . We saw some amazing beaches and got to see some caves.
I highly recommend Viator tours. This is one of many I have taken and never been disappointed. This tour had everything - comfortable van, great driver/guide, and fantastic views! The Oregon coast is not to be missed.
We throughly enjoyed the Oregon Coast tour. The bus was clean and our guide Andy was one of the best guides we ever had. The sights are beautiful with great stops at Ecola State Park, Haystack Rock, Cannon Beach, etc. Definitely a tour you don't want to miss!
