1° giorno: gita di un giorno per piccoli gruppi al castello di Neuschwanstein (9 ore)
Incontra la tua guida vicino alla stazione centrale di Monaco e prendi il treno per un breve viaggio fino a Füssen, dove si trova il castello di Neuschwanstein, patrimonio dell'umanità dell'UNESCO. Dopo una camminata in salita, arriverai all'interno del magnifico castello per esplorare i suoi elaborati interni mentre la guida parlerà della storia e del proprietario originale, Re Ludovico II.
Risultato di un'ossessiva stravaganza, il castello nasce dalla fantasia del re, che ha voluto una dimora che colpisse il popolo e dove potesse rifugiarsi da occhi curiosi. Notoriamente timido, l'eccentrico re è morto poco dopo che l'edificio è stato completato, lasciando uno dei castelli più famosi del mondo che, ironicamente, ha potuto godersi solo per poco tempo.
Ammira le camere come la "sala del menestrello" con le sue pitture murali di Richard Wagner, il maestro lirico che Ludovico idolatrava; osserva la decorazione spettacolare della sala del trono bizantina e raggiungi a piedi la maestosa camera da letto del re. Anche l'esterno di Neuschwanstein è degno di nota, quindi usa il tempo libero dopo il tour a piedi per raggiungere e ammirare gli intricati dettagli dei parapetti e torrette del castello. Molti credono che Neuschwanstein possa essere l'esempio perfetto di un castello da favola, ed infatti è stato di ispirazione per il castello della Bella addormentata nel film Disney del 1959.
Incontra la guida all'orario stabilito e quindi torna alla stazione centrale di Monaco in treno dove si conclude la gita giornaliera.
2° giorno: gita giornaliera al castello di Herrenchiemsee (9 ore e mezza):
La mattina dopo la gita giornaliera al castello di Neuschwanstein, incontra la guida alla stazione centrale di Monaco e viaggia in treno fino al lago Chiemsee, luogo di un'altra delle dimore elaborate di Re Ludovico, il castello di Herrenchiemsee.
Attraversa il lago fino all'isola dove sorge il palazzo, ed entra ad ammirare la sua opulenza che si dice sia stata ispirata alla reggia di Versailles. Insieme alla guida, esplora i corridoi di Herrenchiemsee e osserva le camere eleganti decorate con oro, marmo e specchi. Osserva il tavolo da pranzo sopraelevato che poteva essere abbassato nelle stanze dei servitori così che il re fosse protetto dal loro sguardo, e ammira la decorazione della "sala degli specchi".
Dopo aver esplorato il palazzo con la guida, fai un giro in barca attraverso il lago fino alla vicina isola di Fraueninsel (a proprie spese). L'isola, che copre appena 15,5 ettari, è abbastanza piccola da poter essere visitata a piedi, quindi approfitta del tempo libero per esplorare e immergerti nella sua storia in modo indipendente. Assicurati di fare una sosta per scattare foto al convento storico, un sito che risale al primo secolo.
Dopo aver guardato intorno a piacere, incontra la guida e inizia il viaggio di ritorno verso la stazione ferroviaria per tornare a Monaco. La gita giornaliera termina alla stazione centrale di Monaco.

I'm very grateful for the recommendation and deal of the 2-day tour package to Neuschwanstein Castle and Herrenchiemsee Palace. I never would have thought to go to Herrenchiemsee, but I am so glad I did! I wouldn't have missed it! It made for a very well-rounded experience of the castles, palaces and life of King Ludwig II of Bavaria. The tours were super well organized with brilliant, knowledgeable and fun tour guides. Both days also included and allowed time for extra experiences, such as the village and lake of Hohenschwangau, where Neuschwanstein Castle is located, and also a second island in Lake Herrenchiemsee, Frauenchiemsee, where we viewed a Benedictine Convent an a charming fishing village. Plus historic houses and 1000-year-old Linden trees. The views and breath-taking photo opportunities at Neuschwanstein were amazing, and the guided tours at both Neuschwanstein Castle and Herrenchiemsee Palace were outstanding. It was a fantastic 2-day experience which I will never forget!

The castle is amazing and you can see why Walt Disney chose it for his fairy tale Sleeping Beauty. This was my favorite tour on our recent trip to Europe. Neuschwanstein is definitely something to put on your bucket list. A picture from the trestle bridge of Neuschwanstein Castle and the view from the bridge is just amazing. I cant say enough about this tour it was that good.

For the Neuschwanstein tour it was very cold and rainy, so unfortunately the bus that takes you up the hill to the castle was not running and we had to walk the entire way. Although it was unfortunate to have to walk uphill in the rain the castle was definitely worth it. This company was fantastic!!

Very well organised using train for most of the journey. With Neuschwanstein you also take a bus to get you to the little township below the castle site. With Herrenchiemsee you also get to go on a steam train and ferry as part of the experience of getting to the palace. Both are worth seeing and unique in their own way because of their setting and styles. If you get a chance do Linderhof as well. That is the smallest of the palaces, but it is complete, almost 'homely' compared to the others and it is where King Ludwig spent most of his time. The views from Neuschwanstein are amazing! Herrenchiemsee has a lovely village and abbey nearby to visit. Our guides were wonderful, friendly and accommodating. Very pleasant experience. Great way to see some of countryside as well.

Great trip! The castle and surrounding area were beautiful! Our guide, Austin, was very friendly and entertaining. He gave some great background on the castle and King Ludwig II, and made sure we got exactly where we needed to go. He was organized and made sure we always had seats even when the trains got crowded. I would recommend this tour to anyone who loves history, and even to the ones that simply like beautiful scenery.

This review is only for the Neuschwanstein Castle as I didn't enjoy it much and switched my next trip to Dachau, which happily they were willing to do for me. If you're into castles, it is breathtakingly beautiful. However, it is a horribly long day-longer than it needed to be. It could be done in 6 hours easily but the entire day of this tour is about 10. The tour guides were great, no problem there. However, for a 10hr day, I'd recommend packing some sort of food with you. The only options there are really, really repulsive/disgusting with very limited options. And, if you're a healthy eater, you may as well fast for the day because it will gross you out even more. And beware of all the tourists there. If you hate crowds, simply don't go. They were horrendous the month I went (August). Skip it if you aren't truly into castles.
