Dopo il prelievo dall'hotel di Las Vegas, con un breve tragitto in un confortevole minivan, si raggiunge la diga di Hoover per una breve sosta per scattare foto. Questa diga alta 221 metri trattiene le acque del possente fiume Colorado, dietro cui si trova il lago Mead, un bellissimo serbatoio artificiale contenuto all'interno delle pareti del Black Canyon. Fai tutte le foto che desideri!
In seguito, dirigiti verso la piccola città mineraria di Chloride, una comunità che è sopravvissuta all'aspro ambiente del deserto fin dal 1860. Argento e altri minerali sono stati estratti qui per decenni e, una volta finito il boom delle miniere, Chloride divenne praticamente una città fantasma. Oggi, Chloride ospita circa 250 residenti che sono molto fieri della loro storia mineraria. Puoi curiosare tra i negozi di antiquariato; ammirare le varie sculture artistiche; e chiacchierare con la gente del posto prima del pranzo.
Successivamente, lungo la storica Route 66, si procede verso la piccola città fantasma di Oatman. L'attuale popolazione di questa città fantasma è di 150 persone e uno spettro noto con il nome di "Oatie il fantasma". La leggenda vuole che si tratti del povero spirito di William Ray Flour, un minatore irlandese morto dietro l'Oatman Hotel.
Ammira le vedute del Black Mountain, i rotolacampo e gli asini selvatici che vagano liberamente per la città. Fatti scattare una foto al fianco di moderni cowboy e banditi, posando davanti ad un autentico segnale della Route 66. Avrai anche la possibilità di partecipare a una sparatoria in stile western! Tenuto in mezzo alla strada, questo evento in stile western presenta cowboy in costume che si affrontano faccia a faccia, pronti a sparare.
Sorseggia un drink (non incluso) in un saloon locale prima di viaggiare attraverso il deserto Mojave lungo la Veterans Memorial Highway, una strada che taglia dritto attraverso un desolato paesaggio desertico.
L'ultima tappa prima di ritornare allo sfarzo e al glamour di Las Vegas sarà a El Dorado, chiamata così dagli spagnoli che scoprirono l'oro nella zona. Questa città ha fatto da sfondo a molti famosi film western e fu sede della famosa Techatticup Mine, dove sono stati rinvenuti milioni di dollari di oro e argento.
Il tour termina con il rientro al punto di partenza.

Overall a good experience. Lots of countryside seen tour guide was very informative and the small group made the journey very pleasant. The site visits were ok however I was disappointed with the towns for some reason I was just expecting more. The information provided by the tour guide was more interesting. Overall a good day if you are looking at experiencing a trip on Route 66.

Get away from the noisy city and explore the small quiet cities of the ghost towns. Our guide was very knowledgeable and he kept us very entertained.

This trip took in four stops. The bridge overlooking Hoover Dam, Chloride, Oatman and Nelson. The stop at Hoover Dam was 20 minutes. The stop at Chloride was 40 minutes but really was just some people’s houses and a shop.Oatman however was fab, yet we only had one hour. This meant time to look at the small jail, have a very quick drink in the saloon, watch the gunfight (which was done for charity, maybe because it was out of season but it was a fight between two men and a teenage boy who was the sheriff. They were good and I did enjoy it but it is a stretch to call it professional, as I say it could be because it is out of season). We had a quick walk down the street and then we had to leave. It would have been nice if the company had booked a table for lunch in the saloon.The final stop of Nelson was somebodies house filled with Knick knacks and a garden full of cars and machinery. There were certain areas only tour groups could go. I think that the company should have included a tour, again we had 45 minutes but it wasn’t very big. A tour may have bought it to life a bit.Overall one star for Oatman the star of the day, one star for the guide who was knowledgeable. But it was far too expensive, not enough time in the one place with things to look at, too much time in places that wern’t worth it (not in winter at any rate), a tour would have been nice in Nelson.

This tour was amazing. We went to Chloride, Oatman and El Dorado. My favorite was Oatman when we had lunch with the burros. It was a lot of fun and our guide was great.

Excellent great trip, had the tour guide all to ourselves and it turned out to be one of the best trips we have done. Was such fun and we where made to feel at ease with the tour guide Michael who was entertaining and fun

We had a thoroughly enjoyable day exploring the ghost towns and Mike our guide was extremely knowledgeable and kept us amused and interested with his stories and detailed history of Chloride,Oatman and Nelson Arizona. We would highly recommend this tour and if you are lucky enough to get Mike as your guide you will be in for a very entertaining day.
