Private Cooking Demonstration for Your Group in a Kochi Home

A former restaurateur, Joseph learned to cook from his mother and has a culinary degree. His wife, Shila, is an equally expert cook. Together, this Syrian Orthodox couple makes everything from scratch. They live in a traditional home surrounded by a lush forest on a 1.25 acre lot. Joseph and Shila grow their own papayas, lemons, coconuts, bananas, and spices. As you settle in you'll enjoy a welcome drink , perhaps a cold beer or a luscious mango drink. 

Join Shila in their kitchen for a cooking demonstration as she prepares a Christian Kerala meal cooked in coconut milk and flavored with spices such as cardamom, cinnamon and black pepper.

Your meal will include traditional Keralan dishes like fried mackerel, beef biryani, a Kerala-style stew with fish or chicken, and cooked fresh vegetable dishes. Joseph owned a café on Marine Drive called Geeboy's, and once served his famous fish to Rajiv Gandhi, a former Indian prime minister. You could be eating, if not like a king, then at least like a prime minister!

Your group will share the meal at the dining table with Joseph and Shila and learn about their lives and their passion for cooking and entertaining.

This is a perfect culinary experience for small groups of friends or family members who are traveling together as Joseph and Shila host groups of 8-15 people. Their home is located very close to Kochi Airport so a stop at their home is convenient on your way to or from a flight.

Please note, this is not a professional cooking class, rather this experience is a visit into an authentic, local home to meet a local person and share the culture and cuisine together.
