This tour can be divided into two parts - the border crossing and the actual tour of Jordan and Petra. The Jordanian part was fantastic. Our guide Abdullah was one of the best guides I've ever had. He is so knowledgeable, patient, and kind. He truly did a fantastic job explaining both Jerash and Petra. The Bedouin camp was perfect. All the cool things about "camping" without the hassle. Yes - the communal showers and bathrooms aren't ideal but we were hardly bothered for the one night. The food at the camp and both meal stops were excellent. You do spend a long time in the bus traveling around, but we had adequate rest stops. Now, dealing with the tour desk folks from Abraham Hostel was a nightmare. We were all on time for the departure and signed in with guy in charge. However, when we got in the bus, they did not have enough seats for everyone. The guy was very condescending towards us - counting us multiple times and acting as if someone sneaked on the bus though we all signed in on his paper before getting on. 19 people signed in and the bus sat 16 so some people had to take a taxi. We were already delayed and when we left - all of a sudden the bus driver was called and made to turn around and go back so we could be recounted again! Not only that, but the guy confused EVERYONE with his description of the border crossing procedure and fees. The email/website says one thing but he contradicted the information. When folks complained about the info he was condescending towards them. This big delay set us back at the border crossing which was very, very slow and painful in the heat. The crossing back to Israel was a little bit smoother, but still stressful as the tour bus will leave without you if you are held back for any reason. Overall, it was still worth the border hassle to experience Jordan and Petra. I do believe you need a tour group and good guide to be able to see it and luckily Abdullah made the tour worth it despite everything. The Abraham Hostel/Tour folks need to clean up their procedures, information, and customer service for this to be a 5 star tour.

Amazing small group tour! The tour guide and bus driver took great care of all of us. The included meals were excellent. The people of Jordan we encountered were friendly and we felt very safe on the tour.

I really liked this tour. The border crossing took little long but was easy because the tour guides helped us to get the necessary checking done fast. Our tour guide at Jordan was very knowledgeable, and funny and made the trip a pleasure. Spending the night in Bed-wing camp was certainly an experience and highly recommended. Only thing to remember is that there is no Electricity and running water after 12am till 6am in the morning. So any bathroom breaks during this time will be with flash lights and wet wipes. :

This trip was great! The tour is really about archeological sites so if history is your thing - you'll love this trip. Our tour guide Mautaf / Mo was wonderful. He escorted us on all of the sites and was a wealth of information. Very engaging and I felt he really cared about our experience. All meals were excellent - they have selected really top notch locations and the food was not disappointing. The overnight camp experience in Petra was very cool. Although cold we were there in February, they provided lots of blankets and I slept very well. I felt safe and the camp staff were friendly. This is a camp in the desert so have realistic expectations about showers and hot water! Border crossing: this company did an outstanding job of telling us what to expect, what the risks were and what would happen should any one of us get delayed at the border. Like everything on this tour, the company has really considered the customer's experience and I have nothing but great things to say about them and this tour!

I am SOOOO happy I booked this tour. It was the jewel of my entire trip to the middle east. We met our driver and our group of 14 at Abraham Hostels in Jerusalem. Then we were driven to the border in a mini bus that has wifi!. The driver helped us cross the border into Jordan and gave us all the info we needed to cross. At the Israeli border you will need to pay 105 shekels in order to cross. Once over the border, the Israeli driver handed us over to our Jordanian guide, Emad. He helped us purchase our Jordanian visa which was 50 dinar. There's a currency exchange next to the office in case you need to exchange money. The border crossing took us all of about 25 minutes- although this was January and in low season. Once we were all finished we met our driver Zach and loaded into the bus. The bus is pretty tight so prepare yourself for cramped legs and LONG drives. Before we left the border we were also assigned a police officer that stayed with us the entire time. I wasn't expecting that- but it gave us some added protection which was nice. We then drove to Jerash and walked around the ruins for about 2 hours, then had a nice buffet lunch and a touristy hotel/restaurant. Then we drove to Amman to see the citadel and look around. Before leaving Amman, we made a quick stop and Emad came back with Jordanian desserts to try while we continued the drive. We selected the bedioun camp instead of the hotel-- although 4 out of the 14 in our group opted to go with the hotel instead. The bedioun camp is a MUCH better experience than the hotels- I think the 4 at the hotel felt very left out actually. At the camp we were greeted and sent right into the dinner room where a hot dinner was waiting for us. After that they gave us towels for the showers and showed us to our rooms. There is power and wifi until midnight. After getting situated we went into a large tent where they had hookah, a nice warm fire and served us sweet tea while we lounged around and chatted. Soon they started singing and playing music for us. The men that run this camp are great, very friendly and welcoming. It was nice just to sit aorund and chat with them. Our tents were very nice- actual twin beds with sheets and 6 blankets-it was freezing in the winter! You have a little candle in your room as well after the power goes out. I also brought a small flashlight with me that was helpful when getting ready in the morning. The showers have hot water and they have regular toilets and sinks as well. I would hardly call it camping! haha. In the morning there was a hot breakfast waiting for us before we left for the grand finale- Petra! Walking into Petra is breathtaking. It's a lot of walking, maybe 5-10 miles but its so worth it. After 4-5 hours there, we had another nice buffet lunch and then made the drive back to border which was a breeze and the Israeli driver picked us up on the other side and drove us back to Jerusalem. We got back around 8:30PM. I am so so happy I did this tour. It was worth every penny. Everyone that took care of us, especially Emad was amazing. You will not regret booking this tour!!
