To our surprise (as the programme mentioned a more extended visit), Stefano focused essentially on the David. lt was a really fascinating time! We learnt so much! We definitely enjoyed that privileged moment thoroughly!
The tour location was easy to find and the waiting area was inside in air conditioning. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the art, the artist and the history of the art. He made the tour interesting and informative by explaining the artist style and reason the art was done in a particular way. The guide stood around after the tour and answered questions about the different pieces in the museum. Overall, this was a great tour and highly recommend it.
Our tour of the Accademia Gallery in Florence was great. Easy to find the meeting place, right across the street from the museum. Got there early and were able to eat breakfast at a little shop just down the street. Got us in the museum quickly and ahead of a long line. Guide, Franchesca, was very knowledgeable. Radios made it easy to hear and understand everything she was saying, even when I strayed a little ways from the group. Told us many things about the history of the statues and paintings we would know have known had we gone on the tour alone. Highly recommended!
Excellent tour guide, great stories but not exactly what we signed up. Only got an amazing lecture in the David but not much else. Thought we were getting other highlights from the Academia. The Michalengelo lecture was fascinating and would have been fine, but our real issue was with finding the tour. Utter chaos on the street. No one helping to direct tourists to their guide company. Blank stares from our tour company when we arrived. Still waited half an hour to get inside as a group. Kind of madness.
I believe the tour guides name was Francesca and she was great. Very informative and funny. She made the tour light hearted and really about Michelangelo’s life in Florence and the politics which was interesting. She understood most people were there to see David and not the paintings by other artist.
Easily found the meeting point across the stress from the Academia. Had an incredible guide and skipped all the lines Just what we wanted - highly recommend.
