Da sapere su questa attività
Experience a Gaelic Games session operated at a local Gaelic (GAA) club called "Na Fianna" which is located only about ten minutes bus journey from the city centre. The venue is a modern facility, which includes a dedicated visitor centre. There are two bus public routes (number 4 and 9) which stop directly across the road.
All the sessions commence with an introduction to what are known locally as "Gaelic Games". During this you will be told some history of the games, their revered place and relevance to life in Ireland and how the games are structured and played. You will see lots of video clips, share the Irish passion for the pastimes and generally have a chat with participants, getting to know them and getting them involved.
Following your induction to the ancient Irish games, it is out to the all weather pitches, where you'll get to partake in some gentle team building activities of Gaelic football, hurling and Gaelic handball.
All you'll need is flat footwear (maybe tracksuit) and a willingness to have a bit of fun. Casual sports clothing is preferable. Bring sporting attire if you think you'll get competitive. There is water available throughout the session plus tea and coffee. There are dressing rooms/showers on site, so if you wish you can avail of these but please bring your own towels and toiletries.
It's the interaction that makes the event: all the trainers are great, they are passionate about the native Irish games and really interact with visitors. Depending on the group you most likely play mini-matches - nothing too serious and all in good fun, as the first priorities!

I'm in my late 40's, carrying a few more pounds around my hips than I should. Even so, I had an excellent time learning (uh, trying to remember) and playing (uh, trying to play) some traditional gaelic sports. Our wonderful coach showed us some videos, explained some rules, and then took us out to the pitch to practise drills and start playing. I think a 7 year old would have performed better than I did, BUT it was loads of fun and coach had unlimited patience and good humour. If you're not averse to a little physical activity on your holiday, I strongly encourage you to give this a try! The club is very easy to get to from central Dublin, there's a bus stop right across the street.
Had an amazing time learning how to play handball, hurling, and Gaelic football. Staff was amazing and very helpful and encouraging. Great for athletes and non athletes alike.
Best excursion of our British Isles vacation. Tiernan was an excellent teacher. We learned how to play Gaelic football, hurling and handball. We were placed in a small group for instruction and then played against each other. My husband and I are 72 and 58 years old and had no problem we are very active though. I would strongly suggested trying this...it was a blast!
