Jimmy guided us to the Great Wall (GW), Tian An Men Square (TAMS), and the Forbidden City (FC). We, in some masochistic way, just had to visit these places in summer. Well, we decided on a guided tour to get the best out of each attraction with as little time travelling, bumbling around and wasting of time, as possible. Indeed Jimmy from Private Day Tour, knew his stuff. He actually suggested to set off 1/2 hour earlier to beat the heat as well as the crowds. We followed his idea, turned in earlier the night before, met him at 7am. The road trip to the GW was fairly easy, and at the GW, we got onto the ski lift very quickly. We were on the wall, and walked for about 500m or so as Jimmy shared snippets of its history, construction and description. We were under no pressure to walk long distances as he allowed us to rest when we wanted, particularly at the mid-wall battlements in which the shade created a wind tunnel effect, which really helped. He next brought us to a local local Beijing noodle restaurant, complete with antique furniture and florescent lighting for our lunch. The lunch was filling and a welcome break. Beijingers eat huge bowls of everything! We next took a short ride to TAMS, which would lead to the FC. TAMS is a gigantic heat sink. No trees. No shade. Nothing to provide any protection from the harsh summer sun. Jimmy did warn us to bring our sunnies, hats and insisted on hand carrying large bottles of water. Again Jimmy was full of information about the well known site and the buildings surrounding it. To us the highlight was the FC. Jimmy tied in the tour with frequent references to Bertolucci's The Last Emperor which made the visit more personal and meaningful as we recognised many of the structures and rooms, which were used in the filming. Of course there was a significance because each location had a purpose to it, eg, the Throne Room in which the Empress Dowager met Puyi for the first time, the various terraces where the young boy Emperor played, and the private quarters of the Empress Dowager. The FC is huge, and the large open spaces, again, treeless. Again, Jimmy did not push us beyond what we could bear in terms of pace. We rested when we needed, for as long as we needed. There was never a dull moment with Jimmy. We had no regrets booking the tour and Jimmy made the trip worth while. He understood and made adjustments to our needs, in particular, in the heat of summer, and we can honestly say that our day was very well spent.Re

Sally was our tour guide and she did an excellent job. Vegetarian like us she was able to order a feast of dishes for us to try and some special tea she brought from her home town. While lines were long, she chatted with us and never rushed us. The vehicle provided was pristine and our driver great

GREAT !!! Our tour guide Albert was friendly and informative. Pickup was on time and lunch was at a good restaurant. Time allowed for seeing the wall and Forbidden city was enough. Tiananmen square were closed due to parliament sitting but it was still good to see from across the street.

We had a very pleasant driver and a kind guide who gave us lots of information about the city and the sights. We toured Tiananmen Square, The Forbidden City as well as the Great Wall. We would recommend this enjoyable tour to everyone. We were able to take our time, learn about the history and current events in Beijing along with lunch at a local restaurant.

This was excellent with a lovely guide student who navigated us through the Forbidden city crowds. The older mainland Chinese tourists are the most pushy and escitable crowd I've seen for a long time. Anyway, lots of nice stories then a quick pockup at the north end of the city. Drive out to the wall stopping for lunch en route. Even my 13 yr old daughter ate something which was a bonus! The driver dropped us off at the wall and we walked through the modern but nicely done entrance road - souvenirs, snack places etc - to get the bus to the cable car to finally reach the wall. Amazing place and well worth the wait. Then the kart-thing down which was fun and a long traffic jammed ride home. This took so long we skipped the Birds nest and just got dropped off at hotel. Thoroughly recommend.

We had a great experience on this tour! Our guide Roy and driver Mr. Wong showed up early and were waiting for us in the lobby of our hotels on the day we booked. Roy was amazing, giving us a history lesson on China as we walked through the Forbidden City and on the way to the Great Wall. The car was spacious and modern. We stopped for lunch at a local restaurant and had a great meal. Roy asked for our food preference and made sure the food was not too spicy for my friend. The Great Wall was amazing. Roy gave us 2 hours to explore the wall on our own and showed up exactly where to go. Overall it was an amazing day. I highly recommend this tour to others visiting Beijing!
