Grand Palace
Ogni visitatore di Bangkok deve vedere i magnifici edifici all'interno del Grand Palace per capire la grandezza di questo stile architettonico. Dalla fondazione di Bangkok come capitale da parte di re Rama I, il Grand Palace è stato il simbolo architettonico principale della famiglia reale Tailandese. In questo momento, la famiglia reale risiede nel Chitralada Palace, mentre il Grand Palace viene utilizzato per le cerimonie ufficiali. Gli edifici principali all'interno del Grand Palace sono stati costruiti per re Rama V, che è stato il primo re tailandese a viaggiare in Europa.
Wat Trai Mit
Hai mai visto cinque tonnellate e mezzo di oro? Wat Trai Mit, vicino alla stazione ferroviaria di Bangkok a Hua Lamphong, ospita il famoso Buddha d'oro alto 3 metri.
Il Buddha d'oro viene fatto risalire a 700-800 anni fa per il suo atteggiamento Mara, tipico dell'epoca Sukhothai. La statua è stata installata al Wat Phrayakrai nella zona Yannawa di Bangkok durante il regno di Re Rama III, dove è rimasta fino al 1931.
Wat Pho
Probabilmente questo è il tempio più interessante in Tailandia, in quanto unisce storia e medicina ed è un centro per la meditazione e la scuola di massaggi. Il suo nome ufficiale è Wat Phrachetuphon Vimon Mangkararam Ratchaworamahawihan, ma viene chiamato comunemente Wat Po. Fondato nel corso del XVI secolo, Wat Pho è soprattutto famoso per il Buddha d’oro reclinato alto 46 metri con i piedi intarsiati in madreperla. È questa l'attrazione che richiama più visitatori al tempio. In tempi più recenti, Wat Pho si è guadagnato fama internazionale come centro di meditazione e del tradizionale massaggio tailandese che qui viene praticato e insegnato.

Oi was fantastic! She had so much knowledge on all the temples and purchased water and fresh towels for us throughout the day. The only thing we had an issue with was that the time show on our ticket was incorrect. We were told to meet in our hotel lobby at 1:30 PM and we got a call at 8:30 AM saying they were here to pick up us! It wasn't a big issue for us, we just had to get ready really quickly. Also, the tour was closer to 6 hours instead of the advertised 4 hours, but we learned a lot! I highly recommend this tour and if you have a chance to choose a tour guide, choose Oi!

Our first trip in Bangkok with a very early start , we only had about 4 hours sleep from flying very late the previous night. A bit disappointing the trip did not pick us up from our hotel the Anantara especially when it was only our guide Ui and a driver. This caused us to have to take a taxi to the Sheraton which took about half an hour in morning traffic. That said Ui was a fantastic guide and it truly was a personal tour . Not having been in Bangkok before the heat and crowds were quite daunting and we would have given up a lot earlier had we not had Ui to lead us through. In addition this was an education , we were often asked questions on what we had been told . I think we passed the exam . We did learn an awful lot about Thai culture and Bangkok in a morning . That is just what we were seeking and although tired at the end happy to soak in the hotel pool we had a very personal and enjoyable first Bangkok experience.

Private tour, Guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating. Grand Palace itself was a beauty in itself with endless temples, great architectural designs and more.

Good tour of two of Bangkok's must-sees, and hotel pickup and drop-off well arranged. Saw all the highlights of the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, home to the reclining gold buddha. Take a hat and sunscreen as large parts of the palace compound tour are outside. Large crowds at the palace especially, but only to be expected!
