Tour del vino nella valle del Rodano da Avignone: Chateauneuf-du-Pape e Tavel

La guida ti preleverà dall'hotel di Avignone e poi viaggerai in direzione nord in minibus nel cuore della valle del Rodano. L'area nel suo complesso è divisa in diverse denominazioni, ciascuna con le proprie tradizioni di viticoltura distinte.
La prima tappa della giornata è una tenuta vinicola a Tavel, famoso per la sua produzione di vini rosati rosa intenso. Durante il giro della tenuta, impara a conoscere il terroir (caratteristiche dell'ambiente locale) che influenza il gusto e colore dei vini di Tavel, prima di assaggiare una selezione dei migliori, notando gli aromi secchi e freschi che rendono questi vini squisiti così apprezzati.
Prosegui verso un'altra azienda vinicola, appena a est di Tavel, nella rinomata cittadina di Châteauneuf-du-Pape. È qui che si produce il vino più famoso della Francia e dove hanno avuto origine i regolamenti per l'Appellation d'Origine Controlée (AOC). La prestigiosa etichetta AOC garantisce l'alta qualità dei prodotti ed è molto diffusa in tutta la regione della valle del Rodano.
Durante il giro della proprietà, impara a conoscere le rigorose regole AOC che le tenute vinicole della regione devono seguire per produrre questi vini sontuosamente ricchi, quindi sorseggia qualche bicchiere con la guida. Mentre assapori i complessi aromi fruttati che caratterizzano lo Châteauneuf-du-Papes, capirai perché questo splendido vino rimane praticamente imbattuto in tutto il mondo.

We had a great time on this tour. Our driver/guide was knowledgeable, friendly and spoke English perfectly. We especially enjoyed the Rosè tasting in Tavel. She explained the 3 different soil types used and then poured samples of each so we could taste the difference. We stopped at a vineyard to take a close look at the vines and soil. We also liked the trip to the Chateauneuf-du-Pape ruins before going to the next winery. We recommend this tour for anyone who likes wine and wants to learn more about French wines.
My adult daughters and I were part of an 8 person wine tour in the Rhone valley. Anna, our tour leader, was interesting and fun. The wine pours could have been more generous and/or allowed us to taste additional wines. I expected a setting where we could sit outside tasting wine while overlooking the vineyards, but the tastings take place while standing inside a tasting room. The wines themselves were very good, especially the Tavel rose.
I find it hard to recommend this tour. We did go to a Tavel vineyard, and try 4 generous wines - all which were great. Then we did a tour of a vineyard in Chateauneuf-de-Pape and tried their wines. However I thought our guide was a bit arrogant and I didnt learn as much about French wines as I thought it would on the tour. Its worth nothing that the vineyard in Chateauneuf on this tour is the same vineyard you go to one Le Grand Tour of Provence trip. I did both trips in two days, so that was disappointing - and I was surprised that wasn't raised with me when I rang Provence Reservation to confirm my bookings. I'd definitely choose Le Grand Tour over this one. Also, given the price of this tour I think I would have rather gone to a nice restaurant and tried a bunch of wines there. You can also get a train direct from Avignon to Chateauneuf de Pape where there are lots of cellars you can walk into and do tastings, which may be worth considering.
Small group tour of two wineries. Drive/tour guide was knowledgeable and nice. He picked us up right on time in Avignon and the van was comfortable and had air conditioning. Would recommend.
We really enjoyed this tour mainly because our tour guide Nicolas was very knowledgeable and engaging. He told us interesting history and fun stories. The wineries we visited were very nice and it happened to be the perfect length of tour, as more than 2 tasting locations would have put me to sleep. The scenery was beautiful and we even stopped on the way to take pictures at a historical place with a great view of the valley. I highly recommend this tour if this you are new to Avignon and want to know about the wine and history of the region!
