One day tour from Auckland return, to the world-famous and magical Lord of The Rings Hobbiton Movie Set in the heart of Middle Earth.

On this tour you will be picked up from the hotel in our comfortable 12-seater mini-bus and driven through the stunning Waikato countryside (the most extensive farming area in the world) on a fully guided journey to Hobbiton. During the trip south, encounter stunning scenery, great photo opportunities, beautiful mountains and see several different farm animals along the way.

After the drive you will arrive at the Alexander family sheep farm and Shire's Rest (the entrance to Hobbiton) where you can see thousands of sheep, grab a bite to eat, get your coffee fix or enjoy an ice cream while we collect your tickets to the movie set.

Next, we board one of the big green Hobbiton buses to depart on a two hour fully guided tour of this amazing 12 acre movie set with a professional Hobbiton guide to ensure you get the most out of your visit. (Your entry ticket into Hobbiton is included in our tour unless you select the "Transport Only, No Ticket" option. During your tour step into the lush pastures of the Shire, visit 44 hobbit holes, see amazing gardens, hear the secrets and stories about the making of the movies and enjoy a cold beverage at the famous Hobbiton pub The Green Dragon Inn.

After the tour you will be guided back through the Alexander Family Sheep Farm for another stop at Shire's Rest for a spot of souvenir shopping and maybe a bite to eat before we begin our journey back to Auckland.

The Hobbiton movie set tour was outstanding, the tour guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating and the site is unbelievable. The only disappointment is no interior hobbit hole sets to see but overall a great experience. Highly recommended.

Kudos to Cheeky Kiwi Travel and our tour operator Kreig. We booked through Viator and were traveling to Hobbiton. First of all, the tour group was just the right size. Kreig was personable and informative and passionate about New Zealand. He is from Australia, but I think he secretly wants to be a Kiwi. He had good information for us. He kept our attention. Cheeky Kiwi Travel is the way to go. We had plenty of restroom stops. We even stopped to take pictures of the country side. Kreig showed us a mountain range where part of Lord of the Rings was shot and gave us a fun fact about it. Kreig had a little bit of wizardry up his sleeve as well and did everything he could to give the tour added value. My only complaint is the way that the operators of Hobbiton rush you through everything. I wanted to wait around and soak it all in. It was such a magical place, but we were a bit rushed through everything. And considering the cost to get there and admission, I really wish we could have spent more time there. But that wasn't the fault of Kreig or Cheeky Kiwi. Kreig is an all around nice guy. He is informative and knowledgeable. I will use Cheeky Kiwi on further travels to New Zealand.

Our driver, Pat, was the best. He took great care of us, stopping as needed which put us a bit off schedule but he made it work. We also had a guy in the group who was so into it, he dressed as a hobbit down to his bare feet! The site is beautiful, the Green Dragon Inn and Mill area excellent. Expected rain didnt hit, so several bonuses on this trip!

This was a great tour. The Hobbiton is a beautiful place. It is a location that everyone should visit if possible
