Really nice museum ! Enjoyed seeing Van Gogh’s paintings. Our guide Brahm was wonderful , very knowledgeable! Made our visit really memorable by pointing out all sorts details and stories . We came away with lot of info. And history of the area. Highly recommend him as a guide!!
I would first like to say there is really nothing wrong with this tour other that I think it is WAY over priced. Our guide was very nice and informative, the van was in good condition. But literally he drove us to the museum, dropped us off at 10:00am, gave us our tickets and then said he would be back at 3:00pm to pick us up. No other guidance was given as to how to explore the museum or related grounds. The ticket paid for admittance to the museum, but not the audio guide. The art within the museum and adjacent sculpture garden is really quite excellent and worth the trip. A missing piece here is that there is no guidance to be found as to how to enjoy the national park. There are apparently tons of paths and things to see, but the information is not readily available and would have been nice if this tour at least provided this information. When our guide picked us up, he took us over to the 'weekend' home of the Kroller-Mullers which is within the park. We were only able to see the outside of the home as our tour did not include a tour of the house. Why? I have no idea. Overall, I definitely would NOT do this again. Unfortunately, it is difficult to get to this site from Amsterdam without a tour unless you are comfortable taking trains and a couple local busses. The site is DEFINITELY worth it. The tour is not.
5 stars for BREM, our guide! Enthusiastic, much knowledge, funny and respectful. Negative comment -- Overall tour too much .
I'm surprised this museum isn't better known because it holds the worlds second largest collection of Van Goghs Maybe because it's almost impossible to reach by public transportation. I'm giving the museum five stars even though it was somewhat frustrating experience. The Viator tour is a half day tour meaning four hours. The traveling time from Amsterdam is 1:15 each way meaning 2:30 total. So museum time is 1:30. Enough time to see the Van Goghs and the other painting in the central wing but nothing else. The sculpture garden is very famous and beautiful. We were able to see the part adjacent to the building but nothing else. However the paintings make the trip worth it. Both very famous and not so famous paintings by Van Gogh and other master including Mondrian, James Ensor, Odilon Redon,Theo van Doesburg, Bart van der Leck, Leger, Leo Gestel, Seurat, Picasso and more. To do a satisfying tour you'd have to spend at least five hours here including having lunch in the beautiful cafe, which including the traveling time from Amsterdam would make it a 7 1/2 hour tour! Our tour guide Rom was great, pointing out sites along the way and giving us a quick overview of the museum once we got there. I'd do it again.
